Stoptober is an annual campaign run by the NHS to encourage people to stop smoking. A big hurdle they face is the assumption that once you start smoking there's no going back – the damage has been done so why quit?

But that's not true. After 20 minutes your pulse starts to return to normal, after 8 hours your oxygen levels begin to recover and that's just the start! We wanted to show people that when you quit smoking, your lungs are able to repair themselves and your overall health improves from the moment you stop.

We did this using a pair of dead flower lungs blooming back to life, and a pair of gunky cog lungs becoming shiny and new again.
